“It’s Called Life” - A Dedric Jones Film

James and Erica Johnson have it all: money, success, and each other. Their lives are wonderful – or so it seems until the night of their fifth wedding anniversary. James, the founder of a nonprofit who sees himself in the teenagers he mentors, plans a lavish dinner party with family for Erica, his investment banker wife.

 

The evening ends when Erica is a no-show. During James’ inquiry about Erica’s whereabouts, a fight ensues. She moves in with her new lover, and James seeks advice from the couple’s pastor who offers his wise counsel. His mother and brother are also supportive, but the stress of the separation leaves James sick and even he is unaware of the severity of his illness.

 

Struggling with the pain of his wife’s betrayal and with failing health, James encounters the seductive Lisa who tempts him at his weakest moment. Will he succumb to the call of sin? Or, is James the man he claims he is? “It’s Called Life” explores the age-old question: When your world falls apart, will your faith guide your decisions?

When doctors diagnose him with cancer, life seems to have dealt its final blow. Yet, his trial is not over. The divorce papers arrive and, even worse, his brother is killed in a tragic wreck caused by a drunk driver. James looks for a way out of his misery by downing a handful of pills. He wakes up in the hospital and his nurse Miya helps him discover a reason to live. James regains hope and overcomes his fear of loving again. Through a journey of friendship, their hearts rhythmically begin to rock to the same beat. Becoming entranced, they tenderly fall in love and enter into marital bliss.
